Growing up in the 80s, my mornings were typically spent watching the likes of Jem and the Holograms or Disney features. It was a time when classic animation was not regulated to a niche television network and the concept of CGI was still being evolved. Being the imaginative tyke that I was, I garnered inspiration from these programs and would often spend hours writing my own tales of adventure and, more importantly, honing my illustrative dexterity on whatever notepad (or wall!) I could find.
As the years progressed, my doodles became more refined and I eventually found myself pursuing a career in advertising as a Graphic Designer. It was a natural fit in a complementary industry. My work tenure at several agencies resulted in further skills being added to my repertoire and the chance to see my work in print further fueled my ambitions.
In 2004 I started Oblada Creative, a boutique studio with the aim of offering shrewd solutions and personable service to those seeking enlightenment from their design/illustration/photography quandaries. With award-winning, published and exhibited work under my belt, the wall is no longer my medium...but I still garner inspiration from days of yore.
